The parties discussed the questions of integration of Ukraine’s and the EU’s energy markets and preparations for the negotiation process on Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
The issue of new statutory documents of state operators was also discussed separately.
The Energy Community demonstrates understanding regarding the Ministry’s position on strengthening the role of state representatives in the adoption of key decisions in strategic state-owned energy companies.
Another important partnership issue is the restoration of Ukraine’s energy sector after russian attacks and cooperation within the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine, which is coordinated by the Energy Community.
The parties emphasized the need for further replenishment of the Fund, as its resources allow for the prompt coverage of critically important needs of the power system — from urgent repairs to the procurement of costly equipment.
In the context of the constant threat of new attacks by the russian federation, the stability of the energy sector’s operation directly depends on the rapid response capabilities provided by the Fund.
The Fund was established at the joint initiative of German Galushchenko and ex-European Commissioner Kadri Simson in the spring of 2022 and has become an effective tool for supporting Ukraine’s energy sector under conditions of regular Russian attacks.
Currently, donor contributions to the Fund exceed 1.1 billion euros.
