The Minister of Energy, Svitlana Grynchuk, held a meeting with the IMF mission, where they discussed the current situation in Ukraine’s power system, preparations for the upcoming heating season, and the progress of reforms on the path to EU integration.

The conversation also addressed the recent russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Svitlana Grynchuk informed her colleagues about the work being carried out to quickly repair and restore facilities, as well as the needs for strengthening their protection.

“Despite all challenges, we continue to implement EU integration reforms in the energy sector,” Svitlana Grynchuk noted.

The interlocutors reviewed the current status of each EU integration reform, including the integration of the Ukrainian energy market with the EU market, strengthening the independence of the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC), and simplifying permitting procedures for the development of renewable energy. We have made good progress, which is also acknowledged by our partners.

The meeting participants also discussed reforms outlined in the implementation of Ukraine’s Plan, including the continuation of corporate governance reform in Ukraine’s energy sector.

“We agreed to maintain constant communication for rapid information exchange and continued consultations between our teams. So, we are working together. I am grateful to the IMF team for their ongoing support of Ukraine. All developments and details in the energy sector will be discussed later—during the next IMF negotiation mission,” Svitlana Grynchuk stated.
