Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk took part in a meeting of the Temporary Special Commission of the Verkhovna Rada to prepare issues concerning strengthening social protection for citizens affected by the Chornobyl disaster, as well as the use of the territory contaminated by radiation as a result of the Chornobyl disaster.
“We focused on discussing key issues – reforming the management system and optimizing the work of enterprises in the exclusion zone, decent remuneration for people who take care of the country’s radiation safety every day, as well as prospects for the development of ‘green’ energy within the zone,” Svitlana Grynchuk wrote on her Facebook page.
The discussion also touched upon the progress of dosimetric certification. This is fundamental work that will make it possible to obtain verified data on the state of the territories and to shape a more well-founded social protection policy for the population.
“I thank the Members of Parliament for the constructive dialogue and work. I am convinced that a systematic approach and effective cooperation between the Government and the Parliament will allow us to implement the plans for the revival of the exclusion zone as soon as possible. I thank my colleagues for their readiness for decisive action,” the Minister noted.
