Ensuring energy security and diversifying gas supply sources remain key tasks for Ukraine and Europe. This was emphasized by Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Mykola Kolisnyk during his speech at the 20th Energy Community  Gas Forum, held in Vienna. The event brought together leading energy experts, representatives of state authorities, and businesses from various countries.

“Today, the issue of diversification of gas supply routes and sources is not only about economic efficiency but, above all, about the security of the whole of Europe. Ukraine is making every effort to replace supplies of russian gas urgently and systematically,” he noted.

The Deputy Minister of Energy stressed that an important task is the formation of regional balances of supply and consumption of natural gas, which would allow for a transparent picture of existing and potential supply routes and resources. He also highlighted the need to optimize the tariff component and to create joint products of gas transmission system operators along new routes.

Special attention was paid by Mykola Kolisnyk to the development of the LNG market. “We are actively developing the LNG market and engaging new gas resources. Biomethane is a key component in replacing russian gas, and Ukraine has significant potential in this direction; therefore, joining the Union Data Base is a strategically important step,” he stated.

The Deputy Minister of Energy also emphasized that Ukraine is ready to be a reliable partner in the energy sector and is making efforts to create favorable conditions for the development of the gas market, attracting investment, and ensuring the long-term energy stability of the region.

The 20th Energy Community Gas Forum became an important platform for discussing the challenges and prospects of the energy sector, in particular the role of Ukraine as a transit country and the importance of joint solutions in ensuring energy supply stability.
