Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Anatolii Kutsevol held a meeting with French Regional Adviser for Nuclear Energy Thierry Salmon to discuss prospects for expanding cooperation in the nuclear energy sector, including the development of new generation capacities, modernization of existing power units, and implementation of advanced nuclear technologies.
Anatolii Kutsevol informed the French side about the update of Ukraine’s Energy Strategy, taking into account the consequences of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, and emphasized that nuclear generation remains one of the key pillars of the long-term resilience of Ukraine’s energy system.
Particular attention was paid to the potential development of small modular reactors, as well as opportunities to apply French experience to strengthen the resilience of Ukraine’s energy system.
The parties also discussed the importance of expanding human capital in the nuclear sector. They highlighted the need to enhance cooperation between профильні universities, research institutions, and industry associations in order to train a new generation of specialists.
In addition, the French side presented current developments regarding energy cooperation projects that could be implemented in Ukraine.
“Ukraine is interested in deepening its strategic partnership with France in the field of nuclear energy. We highly value the readiness of the French side to support the development of Ukraine’s nuclear sector and to share technological and industry expertise,” Anatolii Kutsevol stated.
The Deputy Minister thanked the French side for its consistent support of Ukraine and readiness to further develop energy cooperation.
