First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Energy, Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with Andres Sutt, Minister of Energy and Environment of Estonia.
The parties discussed practical solutions to strengthen Ukraine’s energy resilience ahead of the upcoming winter, as well as areas of strategic technological partnership.
“Estonia has already contributed €2.6 million to the Energy Support Fund. This is a significant contribution to the stability of our system. We are grateful for this support,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.
The Minister noted that, as part of preparations for the next autumn-winter period, Ukraine considers it important to receive decommissioned and reserve equipment from Estonian thermal power plants through accelerated mechanisms. This possibility is currently being explored by the parties.
In addition, Estonian companies produce equipment essential for the recovery and modernization of Ukraine’s energy sector. Denys Shmyhal stressed that direct contacts between enterprises should become a systematic practice.
Estonia also has proven solutions that are highly relevant for Ukraine, including cybersecurity for energy infrastructure and the development of energy storage technologies.
“Thank you to Estonia for its unwavering support for Ukraine. I am grateful to Minister Andres Sutt for his visit to Ukraine during the days marking the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster. We value this solidarity and look forward to further partnership,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.
