First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal and German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Katherina Reiche visited a facility operated by NPC Ukrenergo that was attacked by Russia in November 2022.

During the visit, they discussed the current state of Ukraine’s integrated power system, which has been one of the main targets of Russian attacks for the fifth consecutive year. They also discussed the challenges of operating and dispatching the power system during wartime and the daily difficulties faced by Ukrainian energy workers.

Denys Shmyhal briefed the German delegation on the scale of damage to power generation facilities and the electricity transmission system, the protection measures already implemented at energy facilities, and technical solutions to further strengthen the resilience of the power system and ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply for households, businesses and Ukraine’s Defence Forces.

“We thank the German Government, and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Katherina Reiche personally, for their continued and substantial support for Ukraine’s energy sector,” the Minister of Energy noted.
