First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Odile Renaud-Basso.
He expressed his gratitude for the Bank’s continued support to Ukraine, in particular for the EBRD’s assistance in organising the successful International Chornobyl Conference on Recovery and Nuclear Safety.
In addition to ongoing energy sector projects, Denys Shmyhal and Odile Renaud-Basso discussed new areas for deepening cooperation, primarily in the context of preparations for the upcoming winter period.
“Priority areas include the protection of energy infrastructure, restoration of generation capacity and substations, creation of equipment reserves, ensuring alternative gas supply routes, and enhancing the reliability of gas storage facilities. We also addressed the specific needs of individual companies,” Denys Shmyhal noted.
The meeting also covered issues related to European integration reforms, including the implementation of best corporate governance practices in energy companies.
“We highly value the EBRD’s support and its readiness to continue our partnership,” Denys Shmyhal emphasised.
