A regular meeting of the Headquarters for the Elimination of the Consequences of Emergency Situations in the Energy Sector was held under the chairmanship of the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy, Denys Shmyhal.

The key item on the agenda was the preparation for the 2026/2027 heating season.

During the meeting, participants adopted decisions to update the structure of the Headquarters’ working groups, identifying the following six priority areas:

  • repair campaign and restoration of power plant operations;
  • construction of protective structures at electricity sector facilities;
  • restoration of generation facilities and grid equipment within the Kyiv energy hub;
  • mobilisation of humanitarian assistance from partners for the development of energy hubs;
  • development of cogeneration;
  • monitoring the implementation of Headquarters decisions.

The respective working groups have been assigned clear objectives and implementation plans.

The meeting also included a detailed review of repair schedules and the current condition of infrastructure at generation facilities.

“The task for all relevant services and authorities is clear: to take all necessary measures to restore equipment and capacity as quickly as technically feasible. It is essential to ensure maximum resilience, including through decentralisation tools and the deployment of additional capacities, in particular cogeneration,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.
