First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal and Minister for Veterans Affairs Vitalii Kim chaired a meeting of the Coordination Headquarters for the Implementation of State Veterans Policy.

“President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set a clear task: to systematically update veterans policy and establish a modern model of support for veterans and their families. The Coordination Headquarters works to ensure that all responsible authorities act in a coordinated, synchronised and effective manner. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this process,” Denys Shmyhal noted.

Participants discussed three key issues:

  • A new proactive support model for veterans. This involves establishing a network of specialists to help veterans access all the services they need. The plan is to clearly define the responsibilities of the state, local communities and specialists, as well as establish standards for service delivery, workloads and funding.
  • Comprehensive rehabilitation for veterans. A model for long-term recovery centres based at sanatoriums is being developed, alongside a project for family recovery centres. The services available to veterans and their relatives, as well as the parties responsible for providing them, will be clearly defined.
  • An audit of state registers. The goal is to integrate the registers into a unified veterans policy system. The process will follow a clear principle: the state will use information it already holds, government agencies will exchange data promptly, and unnecessary bureaucracy will be eliminated.

“The Coordination Headquarters will work actively and substantively on these and other issues. We expect thousands of veterans to see the results of this work in the near future,” the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy stressed.
