The coordinated work of all emergency services, together with the swift restoration of damaged infrastructure, is critical to stabilizing the situation in Kyiv and the surrounding region as quickly as possible. This was stated by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a regular meeting of the Headquarters for the Elimination of the Consequences of Emergencies in Kyiv and the region.

Regarding heat supply, due to low temperatures and the deterioration of infrastructure, localized accidents continue to occur. Repair crews are currently working to restore heat supply to 143 buildings.

“Our task is to accelerate repair works to the maximum extent possible. Therefore, we are mobilizing additional resources to support the city. Additional repair crews from Ukrzaliznytsia and other regions have already started work. Ten crews are from Ukrzaliznytsia, and eight more are from the Kyiv region. Tomorrow, additional crews will arrive from Rivne, as well as further teams from the railway,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.

The electricity supply situation also remains challenging, particularly due to the increased load caused by cold weather. At present, 60 crews are engaged in power restoration efforts, including 12 teams deployed from other regions.

“We are focusing on systemic solutions. An additional 55 generators are being delivered from the Ministry of Energy’s reserve hub. Together with the Ministry of Development, we are verifying all cogeneration plants to enable the rapid commissioning of additional capacity. We are also simplifying bureaucratic procedures for grid connection in emergency situations,” the Minister of Energy noted.

Energy and utility workers continue to work around the clock to restore electricity and heat to Ukrainian homes as quickly as possible.
