First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, held a meeting with the management of a state-owned energy company to discuss preparations of generation facilities for the upcoming autumn-winter period.

During the meeting, each facility damaged as a result of Russian attacks was analyzed in detail. Denys Shmyhal emphasized the importance of adhering to established timelines for restoration and scheduled repairs. The availability of the necessary equipment was also assessed. The Minister instructed to ensure sufficient resources not only for restoration but also for building equipment reserves.

“We are exploring all possible options — from rapid procurement through the Energy Support Fund to the involvement of decommissioned equipment from partners,” Denys Shmyhal stressed.

The participants also focused on the accumulation of energy resources.

A separate priority is protection. The condition of each facility was assessed, and solutions were identified to strengthen protection measures and accelerate their implementation ahead of the autumn-winter period.

The parties also discussed the company’s generation development strategy, including attracting investment in gas-fired generation, solar power plants, and energy storage systems. Market challenges requiring prompt solutions were also addressed.

“We are keeping the situation under control and continue coordinated preparations of energy infrastructure for the next winter,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.
