First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, together with Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, held a meeting with President of the German Bundestag Julia Klöckner. During the meeting, the parties discussed further support for Ukraine’s energy sector, in particular the supply of equipment required to restore energy facilities damaged by Russian attacks.
Denys Shmyhal thanked Germany for its consistent support for Ukraine’s energy sector, particularly during this winter.
“Germany has provided humanitarian assistance worth USD 15.9 million, while its contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund amounts to EUR 552.4 million. We greatly appreciate this support,” he noted.
The parties also discussed the supply of equipment required for repairs of energy facilities, including equipment from decommissioned German power plants. Part of this equipment has already been dismantled and prepared for shipment to Ukraine.
“A key priority for Ukraine is securing an EU loan of EUR 90 billion. Of this amount, we plan to attract EUR 5 billion in 2026 to address urgent needs in the energy sector. This is critically important for preparing for the next winter season. We count on Germany’s support in this matter,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.
