First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal met with Paul Houston, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States in Ukraine. The parties discussed strengthening Ukrainian-American cooperation in the energy sector, implementing joint energy projects and mobilising financing for the recovery of Ukraine’s energy sector.

Particular attention was paid to continued support for Ukraine under the SPARC programme, the delivery of critically needed energy equipment, the development of distributed generation and energy storage systems.

The meeting also addressed cooperation in nuclear energy, including the implementation of AP1000 projects, diversification of nuclear fuel supplies and the establishment of nuclear fuel production in Ukraine. Another important area is the potential involvement of American financial institutions in energy projects in Ukraine.

Denys Shmyhal thanked the United States for its substantial support for Ukraine’s energy sector. “We value the assistance provided by our American partners in restoring and strengthening the resilience of our energy system,” the Head of the Ministry of Energy noted.
