First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with a delegation of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, headed by Alibala Maharramzade.
The Minister thanked Azerbaijan for the energy equipment provided to Ukraine, including transformers that are helping strengthen the resilience of Ukraine’s power system.
The parties also discussed the implementation of agreements reached during the Ukrainian delegation’s visit to Baku, as well as understandings between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on cooperation in the energy sector.
The meeting also focused on opportunities for Azerbaijani companies to participate in the restoration of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure damaged by Russian attacks. Denys Shmyhal emphasized Ukraine’s interest in developing joint projects and further deepening bilateral cooperation.
According to the Minister, humanitarian cooperation remains another important area of partnership. He noted that work is underway to implement the agreement reached with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov on organizing rehabilitation programmes in Azerbaijan for children of Ukrainian energy workers who lost their lives.
