Under the chairmanship of First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, a regular meeting of the Headquarters for Emergency Response in Kyiv and the Kyiv region was held. During the meeting, participants reviewed the weekly performance of energy companies and determined priorities for the coming days.
Denys Shmyhal emphasized to local and regional authorities the importance of accelerating the restoration of electricity and heat supply, as severe cold weather has returned to Ukraine.
The Minister of Energy reported that during the night of February 1, power engineers completed repairs on the high-voltage line connecting Ukraine with Moldova. This adds 500 MW of capacity to stabilize energy supply in the southern regions.
According to Denys Shmyhal, work continues in the Kyiv region on the installation of cogeneration units.
“Yesterday, a 1.5 MW unit was commissioned in the Kyiv region. Tomorrow, another 1 MW unit is expected to start. In total, Kyiv region has added about 4.5 MW just in January,” the Minister of Energy said.
The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy also emphasized that the Government continues to support the deployment of private generation by businesses and households.
This week, the Cabinet of Ministers expanded the “5-7-9%” program. Loan funds can now also be used to purchase cogeneration units. The maximum investment loan amount has been increased from UAH 150 million to UAH 250 million.
The “SvitloDIM” program has also started. It provides financial assistance of UAH 100,000–300,000 to co-owners of apartment buildings for the purchase of generators, batteries, inverters, solar panels, and other equipment. For the first stage of the program, the Government allocated UAH 800 million. The pilot project is being launched in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, and will later be expanded to other regions.
“We continue coordination efforts to strengthen the energy resilience of the country,” the Minister of Energy concluded.
