A regular meeting of the Headquarters for the Elimination of the Consequences of Emergencies in Kyiv and the region was held under the chairmanship of First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal.

During the meeting, participants reviewed the current situation and coordinated further actions to stabilize the energy system of the capital and the region.

Addressing electricity generation, the head of the Ministry of Energy noted that the energy system deficit persists; therefore, it is currently not possible to fully abandon emergency power outages.

“The strategic objective is to develop a plan for distributed generation in the city. We must secure more than 100 MW of additional capacity. This will significantly increase the capital’s resilience to attacks,” Denys Shmyhal stated.

He also noted that work is underway to simplify licensing and other bureaucratic procedures in order to accelerate the installation of cogeneration units and modular boiler houses.

Regarding heat supply, the Minister emphasized that restoration works are ongoing around the clock. To accelerate the reconnection of heat to individual facilities, two repair crews are operating simultaneously at each site.

“Sixty additional crews have been deployed to the capital to respond to emergencies. This is a nationwide effort: 40 crews were provided by Ukrzaliznytsia, 18 arrived from other regions-including 13 from Kyiv Oblast-and specialists from Kyivteploenergo are also involved. Tomorrow, we expect three more teams to arrive from Lviv,” Denys Shmyhal added.

The Minister of Energy of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to energy workers, utility services, and emergency responders for their dedicated work under extremely difficult conditions to restore heat and electricity to people’s homes as quickly as possible.
