During a working visit to Baku, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov.

The Minister thanked Azerbaijan for its unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and resilience, as well as for its assistance to Ukraine’s energy sector since the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

He noted that transformers provided by Azerbaijani partners have played an important role in strengthening the resilience of Ukraine’s energy system, while supplies of Azerbaijani natural gas helped Ukraine successfully navigate the exceptionally challenging winter of 2025–2026.

“We will continue to deepen our cooperation, not only in the energy sector. The partnership between Ukraine and Azerbaijan is strategic in nature. Today, our cooperation is, above all, a prerequisite for regional security in Southeastern and Central Europe in all its dimensions,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.
