First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with Julie S. Davis, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States in Ukraine.
During the meeting, Denys Shmyhal expressed his sincere gratitude to the United States for its substantial and consistent support to Ukraine’s energy sector. He emphasized that this assistance is critical for the restoration of energy infrastructure facilities, which continue to suffer daily damage as a result of Russian missile and drone attacks.
The Minister briefed the American side on the current situation in Ukraine’s energy system and outlined key operational priorities. He noted that Ukraine is focused on restoring power generation, building strategic equipment reserves, strengthening the protection of energy facilities, installing cogeneration units and block-modular boiler houses, and preparing projects for the construction of new generation capacity.
Particular attention was given to the urgent needs of the energy sector. The parties discussed potential supplies of American LNG to Ukraine, the involvement of U.S. partners in the use of Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities, and cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.
“We are sincerely grateful to the United States for its consistent and unwavering support of Ukraine’s energy sector. We look forward to further fruitful cooperation, which is of crucial importance for the energy security and sustainability of our country,” Denys Shmyhal stressed.
