This week, Chernihiv Region received a new batch of generators provided under a government programme of the Republic of Latvia. First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal announced this.

“This year alone, the Latvian Government has supplied Chernihiv Region with 30 generators with capacities ranging from 80 to 650 kW, and another 30 generators are expected. This is a significant contribution to strengthening the energy resilience of this frontline region ahead of winter,” he stressed.

Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukraine has received more than 900 tonnes of energy equipment from Latvian donors. Power transformers and current transformers, surge arresters and insulators, tractors with drilling rigs, and wireless routers all help Ukrainian energy workers restore energy facilities more quickly after Russian attacks.

The Minister of Energy also highlighted Latvia’s contribution of EUR 600,000 to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.

One of the key areas of cooperation is the supply of equipment from power plants decommissioned in Latvia. This equipment plays an important role in repair and restoration work at Ukrainian energy facilities.

“We deeply value the support of our Latvian friends. Thank you for helping Ukraine keep the lights on,” the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy concluded.
