First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of EnergyDenys Shmyhal, announced that the United States will allocate $100 million for the repair of the confinement at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which was damaged by a Russian drone.

The announcement was made by the Minister on his official page on the social media platform X.

Denys Shmyhal recalled that during the International Chornobyl Conference, Ukraine discussed with partners the financial needs for restoring the confinement, which currently amount to approximately €500 million.

“I am grateful to the United States Department of State, to Chris Wright, to the American delegation that worked with us in Kyiv, and to the entire Administration for their significant contribution to strengthening radiation safety in Europe,” Denys Shmyhal stated.
