As part of his working visit to Sumy region, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal visited key high-voltage substations that ensure reliable electricity supply to the region and serve as important transmission hubs.

During the visit, the readiness of the facilities for the autumn-winter period was assessed, as well as progress in establishing the second level of protection. Technical solutions and additional funding needs were discussed, and the most urgent requirements for energy equipment were identified.

“Since 2022, energy companies in Sumy region have received more than 1,154 tonnes of humanitarian assistance from the Ministry of Energy’s hubs. More than 208 tonnes have already been provided in 2026. This includes generators, transformers, batteries, energy storage systems, pumps, vehicles and specialized equipment,” the Minister of Energy noted.

He also said that engagement with international partners to strengthen the resilience of the region continues. Since the beginning of the year, JICA has provided six generators to support critical utility companies in the region. This work is ongoing.

“I thank the energy workers of Sumy region who, despite the attacks, continue working for the people. Thanks to your resilience and professionalism, the power system is restored time and again and continues to sustain the country’s home front,” Denys Shmyhal stressed.
