Denys Shmyhal: We Must Strengthen Social Protection for Energy Workers Operating Under Extremely Difficult Conditions

30 January 2026, 18:02

First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with the heads of trade union organizations of the fuel and energy sector.

The participants agreed on an action plan, primarily focused on strengthening the social protection of energy workers.

“Energy workers perform their duties under extremely difficult conditions, with inhumane workloads and under constant enemy threat. We will seek a balanced approach to updating sectoral agreements during wartime in order to improve the level of social protection wherever possible,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.

Special attention during the meeting was given to the digitization of archival documents, including those evacuated from temporarily occupied enterprises. Addressing this issue will help strengthen social protection for workers who have devoted decades of their lives to the sector.

“I am grateful to the trade union organizations and their leaders for their work with labor collectives and for supporting people. We will now work on this task together,” the Head of the Ministry of Energy concluded.
