France will provide Ukraine with EUR 71 million in grant financial assistance, part of which will be directed to support Ukraine’s energy sector. The agreement was reached between First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal and Minister of Economy, Finance and Industry, Energy and Digital Sovereignty of France Roland Lescure. On the margins of the International Energy Agency events in Paris, Denys Shmyhal and Roland Lescure also signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between Ukraine and the French Republic in the field of nuclear energy.
“This lays a solid foundation for deepening our strategic partnership and establishes a framework for the recovery and modernization of Ukraine’s energy sector,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.
He expressed gratitude to the French partners for their consistent support and solidarity:
“Ukraine has already received more than 50 shipments of humanitarian energy assistance, including over 140 high-capacity generators. An additional EUR 5.7 million has been contributed by France to the Energy Support Fund. We are especially grateful to the French Government for its decision to deliver an additional 150 generators to Ukraine during February,” Denys Shmyhal noted.
The First Deputy Prime Minister also highlighted three infrastructure projects that Ukraine is implementing jointly with France to enhance the resilience of regional energy systems.
“We see the engagement and readiness of French companies to continue and deepen cooperation,” Denys Shmyhal stressed.
