Ahead of the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2025) in Rome, Ukraine’s Minister of Energy, German Galushchenko, participated in a Norwegian-Ukrainian roundtable.
“We are grateful to Norway for the extraordinary solidarity that Ukraine feels from your side. Norway is one of the leaders in supporting Ukraine, particularly in the energy sector,” noted German Galushchenko.
The Minister thanked Norway for contributing 35.5 million euros to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund to aid in the restoration of damaged infrastructure, the implementation of decentralized solutions, and preparations for winter. Since the start of russia’s full-scale invasion until the end of 2024, Norway’s total assistance has amounted to 5.3 billion dollars.
German Galushchenko emphasized the special significance of cooperation with Norwegian partners in the gas sector. The head of the Ministry of Energy noted that this cooperation enables Ukraine not only to maintain the resilience of its energy system under daily enemy attacks but also to prepare for the upcoming heating season.
Particular importance lies in cooperation at the business level: “This is more than just business or partnership. It is true friendship that helps our countries make projects as effective as possible,” he stated.
German Galushchenko highlighted that future cooperation projects between the two countries could significantly strengthen energy security not only for Ukraine but for all of Europe, particularly in the context of the EU’s plans to fully phase out russian energy resources.
