At the initiative of the Ministry of Energy, the Government is submitting to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine a draft law providing for the transfer from state to municipal ownership of real estate belonging to state coal-mining and coal-processing enterprises, as well as state enterprises engaged in uranium ore extraction and processing, that are undergoing liquidation. This was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal.
According to the Head of the Ministry of Energy, this is one of the steps in the continued transformation of coal-mining regions. Transferring such property to territorial communities will enable it to be used more effectively in line with local needs. It will also help attract donors and potential investors to support the development of former mining areas.
“We count on Parliament’s support for this draft law, which will accelerate the transformation of mining communities into centres of prosperity and development,” Denys Shmyhal noted.
