Eighty-one years ago, the world defeated Nazism — a totalitarian ideology that propagated hatred toward other nations and destroyed and burned lives in its path.
Today, we are fighting an evil no less grave. Russia seeks to destroy life in Ukraine by every possible means. Light and warmth in the homes of Ukrainians have become targets of Russian terror.
“Today, I thank everyone who is doing everything in their power to prevent the enemy from taking this life away. To our defenders, rescuers, and energy workers — to everyone thanks to whom light continues to return to Ukrainian homes despite all attacks. The enemy has failed to plunge Ukraine into total darkness and cold,” said First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal.
Every year on May 8, the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism, together with the entire civilized world, we bow our heads in memory of the greatest tragedy of the last century and of those who gave their lives for a bright and free future.
Light will inevitably overcome darkness.
Glory to Ukraine!
