Deputy Ministers of Energy of Ukraine Anatolii Kutsevol and Valentyna Moskalenko held a meeting with representatives of Germany’s federal ministries to discuss further support for Ukraine’s energy sector, preparations for the upcoming heating season, and priority areas of cooperation.

Representatives of the Ministry of Energy informed the German partners about the current situation in Ukraine’s energy system and the consequences of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. A key task for the near future is the implementation of measures aimed at strengthening the resilience of the energy system and preparing for the next winter period.

“We must take into account the security situation while at the same time developing a clear vision for the development of the energy system — from the structure of generation to the role of the public and private sectors in its recovery,” noted Anatolii Kutsevol.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed coordination of international assistance, including within the framework of the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, as well as opportunities to involve international companies in the implementation of energy projects in Ukraine.

Particular attention was paid to the development of human capital in the energy sector, including the training and retraining of engineers and technical specialists to work with new technologies and modernized equipment.

“To restore and modernize energy infrastructure, we need not only equipment but also well-trained specialists. Therefore, the development of educational programs and professional training for energy sector specialists is one of the key priorities of our work,” emphasized Valentyna Moskalenko.

The parties also discussed the long-term transformation of Ukraine’s energy sector, including the development of distributed generation, renewable energy, expansion of cross-border electricity interconnectors, and the integration of energy markets with the European energy system.

Representatives of the German side reaffirmed their readiness to continue supporting Ukraine’s energy sector, including in preparations for the next heating season, the implementation of reforms, and the development of a resilient and modern energy system.
