Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak held an online meeting with representatives of Ukraine’s diplomatic missions abroad to outline the needs of the Ukrainian energy sector for its recovery and preparations for the autumn-winter period. More than one hundred representatives of Ukrainian embassies and consulates participated in the meeting.
Roman Andarak provided a detailed overview of the extensive damage inflicted on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. He highlighted the enemy's intensified shelling of oil and gas facilities, which poses new challenges for energy security.
“Unfortunately, the rhetoric coming from the Russian Federation does not allow us to expect a cessation of attacks on energy infrastructure. This requires intensifying the efforts of Ukrainian diplomats. Following the meeting, we identified key areas requiring priority funding and technical assistance. Our immediate tasks include protecting and strengthening energy infrastructure facilities, repairing and restoring damaged equipment, establishing strategic reserves of equipment and resources, and procuring equipment,” noted Roman Andarak.
The Deputy Minister also emphasized the importance of developing distributed generation to strengthen the resilience of Ukraine’s energy system. He expressed gratitude to the diplomats for their support and effective cooperation in restoring Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
