The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, in cooperation with its partners under the Danish-Ukrainian Energy Partnership Programme, has launched the pilot operation of the Green Zoning Online Platform, a geoinformation system designed to support the development of renewable energy projects.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal noted that the platform has been developed in line with the provisions of the Ukraine Facility 2024–2027 and relevant European Union regulations, and will serve as an important step toward advancing renewable energy development in Ukraine:

“We are creating a clear and transparent tool that will help the government, businesses, and local communities make more informed decisions on the deployment of new energy generation facilities. The Green Zoning Online Platform enables users to assess the suitability of specific areas for renewable energy development by taking into account solar and wind potential, proximity to energy infrastructure, and other relevant factors. This will be an important step in advancing renewable energy in Ukraine and strengthening our energy independence”.

During the pilot phase, users will be able to explore the platform’s functionality and evaluate its capabilities.

The implementation of the platform is expected to reduce project preparation times by facilitating the selection of more suitable locations, enhance transparency in decision-making processes, and ensure a balanced approach to energy development that takes into account environmental requirements and the interests of local communities.
