A Ukrainian government delegation led by First Deputy Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko is taking part in the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington, D.C. Among the delegation members is Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk.
During the visit, the delegation raised key issues related to Ukraine’s energy recovery in meetings with representatives of the U.S. Government, the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Eximbank), the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), as well as the leadership of major international financial institutions including the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The discussions focused on:
- strengthening the resilience and strategic development of Ukraine’s energy system;
- protecting critical infrastructure;
- mobilizing international support for restoring facilities damaged by Russian attacks.
The key priorities of the Ukrainian government delegation’s work, as defined by the President of Ukraine, include strengthening energy security, increasing sanctions pressure on Russia, and expanding new areas of cooperation with the United States that hold strategic importance for both nations.
A particular focus is placed on ensuring the energy security of Ukraine and Europe through coordinated efforts to reduce Russia’s influence on global energy markets.
In parallel, the delegation is briefing international partners on the consequences of recent Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and is actively working to mobilize additional resources and support for restoration efforts.
