At the initiative of the Ministry of Energy, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a mechanism for using the relevant financing from the Finnish-Ukrainian Investment Fund and the terms for providing it to Ukrnafta.
As Denys Shmyhal, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy, explained, the funding consists of loan resources allocated to the state budget under the Framework Agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Finland, signed in November 2024. The agreement opened up opportunities to implement projects aimed at Ukraine’s recovery and resilience.
“The allocated funding will enable Ukrnafta to launch four projects to install gas-engine power plants in Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv regions. This will add approximately 60 MW of capacity to our energy system. The company will be able to purchase the power plants and auxiliary equipment, as well as carry out installation, testing and commissioning,” Denys Shmyhal emphasised.
The First Deputy Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Finland for its consistent support for Ukraine, which enables the country to expand its own decentralised generation capacity, improve the reliability of electricity supply in the regions and strengthen national energy security.
