The second meeting of the Headquarters for the Elimination of the Consequences of the Emergency in the Energy Systems of Kyiv and the Kyiv Region took place, co-chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the Kyiv City and Kyiv Regional authorities, as well as key energy companies. Participants discussed the implementation of government decisions and previously adopted protocol instructions.
Denys Shmyhal emphasized that, as the head of the emergency response in the power systems, it is critical that all decisions of the headquarters are implemented as quickly as possible. He set specific tasks for the leadership of Kyiv and the Kyiv region to strengthen coordination on the ground and separately instructed to convene a meeting of the Kyiv City Defense Council to enable the prompt adoption of additional decisions at the city level.
The key focus areas include revising curfew movement rules to ensure unhindered access to Points of Invincibility, limiting non-essential advertising lighting and illumination, and continuing work on equipping and finalizing Points of Invincibility and warming centers.
During the meeting, participants reviewed updates and developments over the past day. Co-chair of the headquarters Oleksiy Kuleba announced that additional cogeneration units are being deployed to Kyiv.
Together with representatives of energy companies, the headquarters discussed ways to improve coordination of works, including the potential involvement of teams from other regions to connect generators in apartment buildings. Ongoing efforts also include simplifying procedures for connecting cogeneration units, modular boiler houses, gas turbine units, and gas piston units to expand distributed generation.
In addition, the headquarters reviewed the latest information from energy companies regarding the condition of power networks, progress of restoration works, and priority needs.
