A Solar Power Plant Installed at a Medical Facility in Khmelnytskyi Region Thanks to the "Ray of Hope" Project

Within the framework of the "Ray of Hope" initiative, a solar power plant with an autonomous power supply system was installed at a medical facility in Khmelnytskyi region. This system ensures uninterrupted power supply to critically important systems even in case of a blackout. The equipment was provided by the government of Italy and the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.

The uninterrupted power supply now covers operating rooms, anesthesiology and intensive care units, infectious disease therapy, ventilation systems, elevators, and other vital services. As part of the project, the medical facility received 420 solar panels with a total capacity of over 140 kW, inverter equipment from the Energy Support Fund, and energy storage systems that provide up to six hours of autonomous operation.

“This project is an example of effective solutions to ensure energy supply resilience. In case of adverse weather or emergency power outages, the installed panels automatically support the operation of critically important facilities: elevators for people with limited mobility, intensive care units, kitchens, wells, and pumping stations. This guarantees the continuous functioning of key services,” said Dmytro Fedorenko, project manager of the "Ray of Hope" initiative at the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

The initiative is being implemented under the "Ray of Hope" project through the UESF mechanism and aims to strengthen the energy resilience of Ukrainian hospitals.

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has already identified 300 priority medical facilities for participation in the initiative. To date, 182 applications have been approved, solar systems are already operating in six hospitals, and projects are underway in 130 more facilities.
