From January to early October 2026, 55 healthcare facilities began generating their own electricity under the “Ray of Hope” project. The total installed capacity of the commissioned solar power plants amounts to 4,100 kW.
A further 128 projects at healthcare facilities are currently at various stages of implementation.
The commissioning of these systems at 55 healthcare facilities was made possible by international support. Germany funded installations at 38 facilities, Sweden supported eight, the United Kingdom five, the European Union two, Belgium one and Canada one.
The “Ray of Hope” programme is a joint initiative of the European Commission, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. It is implemented through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund and coordinated by the Energy Community Secretariat.
The programme aims to strengthen the energy resilience of healthcare facilities by equipping them with solar panels, energy storage systems and other equipment to ensure a reliable electricity supply and uninterrupted operation, even under challenging conditions.
