23 April 2025, 15:21

The Ukraine Energy Support Fund was established in April 2022 as a joint initiative of the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, German Galushchenko, and the European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson. Over the course of its operation, it has become an effective tool for providing international assistance in the energy sector.

"Throughout all the years of this war, the energy sector has been one of the main targets of the enemy, with tens of thousands of energy infrastructure facilities damaged. And the Energy Support Fund has become an important tool for providing international assistance. It has proven its effectiveness, as it is focused on rapid response and resolving procurement issues. This means the ability to carry out prompt and swift repairs precisely when the energy system needs every kilowatt of electricity. Nearly all Ukrainian energy companies have turned to the Energy Support Fund for assistance, received the necessary equipment, and continue to actively cooperate," stated the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, German Galushchenko, in his post on the social network Facebook.

The first country to support the initiative to establish the Fund was Denmark, with a contribution of 500,000 euros. Currently, announced partner contributions to the Fund amount to €1.2 billion. It has united 33 donors from 22 countries, including states, private companies, corporations, and international organizations.

Around 70 Ukrainian energy companies from all regions of the country have received assistance. In particular, around 150,000 units of equipment have already been delivered to final recipients. Priority is given to equipment for restoring power supply — transformers, generators, cable products, vehicles, and more.

"We sincerely thank all the countries that have become donors to the Fund and continue to support Ukraine’s energy sector. We thank our partners from the Energy Community for their unwavering support of Ukraine and the creation of this Fund, as well as for the clear and effective organization of all processes. We thank the European Commission for its support and especially Kadri Simson, who has consistently supported the Fund and made great efforts toward its development," the Minister emphasized.

He added that it is now important to continue effective cooperation, not lose momentum, and increase contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. "We must continue to unite our efforts in order to withstand the coming winter!" concluded the head of the Ministry of Energy.
