Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk held a meeting with Kristina Mikulova, Head of the Regional Hub of the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Eastern Europe.
The meeting focused on key areas of cooperation in the energy sector, in particular the implementation of sustainable solutions alongside the restoration of energy infrastructure damaged by Russian aggression.
The parties discussed the potential for developing decentralized distributed generation, decarbonizing the energy sector, introducing smart grids and metering systems, using alternative energy sources such as biomethane, and accumulating natural gas reserves ahead of the heating season.
Special attention was given to current and long-term projects aimed at developing cross-border electricity transmission lines. The parties agreed on the need to compile a list of priority areas of cooperation, considering the climate policies of the European Union and the European Investment Bank.
The minister expressed her gratitude to Kristina Mikulova for the EIB’s support for Ukraine, including through the JASPERS advisory initiative, which helps prepare high-quality investment projects. The parties also discussed opportunities to engage new EU financial instruments for the implementation of strategic energy projects.
