Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk held an online meeting with Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye Alparslan Bayraktar. The parties discussed key areas of Ukrainian-Turkish cooperation in the energy sector and agreed on steps to implement joint projects.
Key topics of discussion included updating the contractual framework in the energy sector, resuming the work of the Joint Ukrainian-Turkish working group on energy issues, launching projects in natural gas supply and storage, and the participation of Turkish businesses in the modernization and development of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
“Ukraine and Türkiye have a long-standing history of energy partnership. Today, we took another step towards deepening cooperation, particularly in gas supply and storage. Türkiye’s strategic location, its gas infrastructure, and the activity of Turkish companies create additional opportunities to strengthen the energy security of our region,” said Svitlana Grynchuk.
The Minister of Energy of Ukraine emphasised the importance of strengthening the partnership with Türkiye, which has continued to provide Ukraine with humanitarian, technical, and political support since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion.
The parties agreed to intensify the activities of the bilateral working group, which last met in 2021. Its resumption will enable systematic coordination of joint initiatives, the development of roadmaps, and the approval of technical solutions.
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine expresses gratitude to the Government of Türkiye for its readiness to cooperate and to Turkish companies for their contribution to the restoration of Ukraine’s energy system.
