A working meeting was held between representatives of Ukraine and the United States on protecting critical energy infrastructure. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Oleksandr Vyazovchenko, Director of the Department of State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine Valerii Novak, representatives of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the State Agency for Infrastructure Restoration and Development, as well as experts from the Ukraine Working Group of the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Nuclear Security Administration.
“Systematic strengthening of energy infrastructure protection is a key priority for energy supply stability. We are grateful to our American partners for their support and readiness to participate in joint projects implementing advanced passive protection technologies,” said Oleksandr Vyazovchenko.
During the meeting, ways to strengthen passive protection of energy facilities, in particular systems to counter unmanned aerial vehicles, and the possibility of implementing a second level of protection for critical infrastructure using American technology were discussed. Participants also received information about potential funding sources for these measures and prospects for supporting other areas of energy security enhancement.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to further coordinate actions on energy infrastructure protection and expand funding opportunities for joint projects.
