Today, the Ukrainian Energy Exchange held the country's first auctions for the sale of electricity under long-term bilateral contracts.

The new mechanism enables market participants to fix electricity prices and volumes in advance for an extended period, improving cost predictability and reducing exposure to market price volatility.

A total of 42 companies participated in the auctions. Standard electricity products with delivery periods covering August and September were offered to market participants.

As a result of the auctions, 29 contracts were concluded, and the entire offered volume of 92,232 MWh of electricity was successfully sold.

The auctions were initiated by Energoatom and Ukrhydroenergo:

  • Energoatom sold 80,520 MWh of electricity. The weighted average selling price reached UAH 5,012.53/MWh, compared with the starting price of UAH 4,700/MWh. A total of 25 contracts were concluded.
  • Ukrhydroenergo sold 11,712 MWh of electricity. Four contracts were concluded at a weighted average price of UAH 4,700/MWh.

The introduction of this new mechanism creates more stable conditions for business planning and investment while contributing to the development of a more competitive, transparent, and predictable electricity market in Ukraine.
