Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Valentyna Moskalenko held a meeting with Deputy Minister for Global Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia Minna-Liina Lind.
The parties discussed the current situation in Ukraine’s energy sector, preparations for the upcoming heating season, the sector’s needs amid ongoing Russian attacks, and further avenues for Ukrainian-Estonian cooperation.
Valentyna Moskalenko expressed gratitude to Estonia for its consistent support of Ukraine’s energy sector, particularly through contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, the provision of equipment for energy companies, and participation in the Energy Emergency Response Hub.
“Preparations for the next heating season remain one of our key priorities. We continue to restore damaged facilities, expand distributed generation, and strengthen the resilience of the power system in the face of ongoing Russian attacks,” Valentyna Moskalenko stated.
Particular attention during the meeting was devoted to strengthening the protection of critical energy infrastructure, advancing distributed generation, developing energy storage systems, and securing additional equipment to meet the needs of the energy sector.
The parties also discussed prospects for cooperation in the modernization of energy infrastructure, the deployment of advanced technologies, grid digitalization, and measures aimed at enhancing the resilience of the energy system.
In addition, the participants exchanged views on regional energy cooperation and the diversification of natural gas supply routes, including the potential use of the Baltic states’ energy infrastructure to further strengthen Ukraine’s energy security.
The Estonian side reaffirmed its readiness to continue supporting Ukraine and highlighted the value of Ukraine’s experience in ensuring energy system resilience under wartime conditions. The parties agreed to continue exchanging best practices in the fields of critical infrastructure protection and energy security.
