The Verkhovna Rada Approves the State Budget for 2026

The Verkhovna Rada has adopted in the second reading the Law “On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2026.” Among the priorities are defense, national security and resilience, social protection of citizens, and economic support.

Almost UAH 21 billion has been allocated in the budget to strengthen the country’s energy security. In particular, the expenditures include:

  • Restoration and development of energy infrastructure – UAH 3.7 billion;
  • Implementation of the Energy Sector Reform and Development Program – over UAH 11 million;
  • Physical protection of nuclear installations and nuclear materials – almost UAH 81 million;
  • Management of non-nuclear radioactive waste, construction of the “Vector” complex, and operation of its facilities – UAH 714 million;
  • Maintenance of nuclear units and the “Shelter” facility in a safe condition, as well as decommissioning measures at the Chernobyl NPP – UAH 1.6 billion;
  • Support of environmentally safe conditions in the exclusion and mandatory resettlement zones – over UAH 490.6 million;
  • Radiological protection of the population and environmental remediation of radioactively contaminated areas – over UAH 166.4 million;
  • Budget programs funded by international loans for the preparation and implementation of public investment projects – nearly UAH 10 billion. These projects include the reconstruction of hydroelectric power plants, enhancing the reliability of electricity supply in Ukraine, support for critically needed distributed generation, and modernization of substations, among others.
