The first auctions to allocate support quotas for new solar power plants (SPPs) and solar power plants combined with energy storage systems (SPPs + ESS) have taken place.

In August, the Government adopted a decision that significantly simplified the conditions for investors participating in the auctions.

Under the updated rules, 26 participants submitted bids for the auction offering a 100 MW support quota for new solar power plants combined with energy storage systems. Their total proposed capacity amounted to 385.94 MW, with bid prices ranging from 5.97 to 11.45 euro cents per kWh. In other words, demand exceeded the available quota by more than three times.

For the auction offering a 50 MW quota, two participants submitted three bids with a combined capacity of 38.99 MW and bid prices ranging from 7.3 to 7.99 euro cents per kWh, against a price cap of 8 euro cents. By contrast, no bids were submitted for this auction lot during the previous two years.

This demonstrates the results of our consistent policy to develop renewable energy sources and maintain close dialogue with producers. We look forward to the selection of the auction winners and will continue to modernise Ukraine’s energy architecture.
