First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with Lithuania’s Minister of Energy Žygimantas Vaičiūnas, who is visiting Ukraine on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster.

The Head of the Ministry of Energy thanked his counterpart for visiting one of Ukraine’s energy facilities that has been repeatedly targeted by Russian attacks.

A multimedia art and technology exhibition titled “Chornobyl: 40 Years On. A Story That Obliges” has opened in Kyiv, marking the 40th anniversary of the accident at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

The opening ceremony was attended by First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Andriy Pyshnyy, representatives of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management, the Chornobyl NPP, and other stakeholders.

- As a result of shelling of energy infrastructure facilities, some consumers in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions remain temporarily without electricity supply.

- Energy workers are operating in an enhanced режим to restore power supply to all consumers as quickly as possible. Restoration works are ongoing around the clock.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a third working meeting with representatives of the gas generation business, during which the participants reviewed the results achieved over the past week and outlined further steps.

Under the chairmanship of Denys Shmyhal, a meeting of the Energy Headquarters for addressing emergency situations in the energy sector was held.

The key issue discussed was preparation for the upcoming autumn-winter period. During the meeting, reports were heard from energy companies on the readiness of power sector facilities for winter, with a primary focus on scheduled and emergency repairs.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with members of the Supervisory Board of Energoatom, chaired by Romina Velschi.

The participants discussed the company’s key operational and development priorities.

- As a result of shelling of energy infrastructure facilities, some consumers in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, Sumy, Kherson and Kharkiv regions remain temporarily without electricity supply.

- Energy workers are operating in an enhanced mode to restore electricity supply to all consumers as quickly as possible. Restoration works are ongoing around the clock.

- In the Mykolaiv region, one worker was injured as a result of an enemy attack on an energy facility and has received all necessary medical assistance.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the Programme for the Development of Biomethane Production until 2035, along with the Action Plan for its implementation, in which the Ministry of Energy is one of the key executing authorities.

According to the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy, Denys Shmyhal, the Programme unlocks Ukraine’s potential to become a major producer of biogases and an exporter to the European Union, thereby contributing to Europe’s efforts to reduce dependence on Russian hydrocarbons.

The First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy, Denys Shmyhal, held a meeting with market participants on the restoration of electricity generation and distribution systems as part of preparations for the upcoming winter period.

During the meeting, participants reviewed the state of preparedness across key areas, including the repair campaign, reserve formation, mobilisation of international support, protection of facilities, and infrastructure modernisation. Specific solutions, performance indicators, and implementation timelines were also considered.

Wind energy is a key component in strengthening Ukraine’s energy security. It contributes to the decentralisation of generation, reduces dependence on imported fuels and, when combined with energy storage and flexibility solutions, enhances the stability of the power system.

This was emphasized by the First Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Artem Nekrasov, during the WindEurope 2026 Conference held in Madrid.
