As part of a working visit to Helsinki, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, together with Finland’s Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala, held a meeting with representatives of Finnish businesses.

Among the participants were companies already operating in Ukraine, investing in the country, and contributing to infrastructure recovery.

Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Anatolii Kutsevol held a meeting with French Regional Adviser for Nuclear Energy Thierry Salmon to discuss prospects for expanding cooperation in the nuclear energy sector, including the development of new generation capacities, modernization of existing power units, and implementation of advanced nuclear technologies.

In April, the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine received grant contributions from Canada, Croatia, and the United Kingdom. The total volume of contributions amounted to €72.3 million.

In addition, documents on further grant contributions were signed in April and new donor commitments were announced. Ukraine expects to receive €10 million from the European Commission, as well as €0.5 million from a private Latvian company.

New contributions have also been announced: €10 million from Italy and €155,000 from Canada.

Wärtsilä and Ukrnafta signed a framework agreement on the supply of turnkey equipment for gas piston power units.

The relevant agreements were reached during the meeting between First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal and Prime Minister of Finland Petteri Orpo.

“Finland and Ukraine share a common understanding that energy is a matter of national security. I thanked Finland for its readiness to transfer equipment from a decommissioned combined heat and power plant — a concrete and timely contribution that will directly strengthen Ukraine’s generation capacity,” Denys Shmyhal stated.

The Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine has received approval from the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) for the implementation of a joint project to increase capacity at the interconnection point with Poland. This decision opens a new stage in expanding natural gas imports from the European Union and will contribute to Ukraine’s further integration into the European energy market.

On 6 July 2026, a joint auction for the increased capacity will be held on the GSA (Gas System Auctions Platform).

During April, Ukrainian power engineers restored electricity supply for nearly 4 million consumers who had been cut off due to Russian attacks and hostilities.

Restoration works were carried out in regions regularly affected by shelling and damage to energy infrastructure. Despite heightened security risks, energy workers promptly repaired networks to restore electricity supply as quickly as possible.

The All-Ukrainian CDTO Forum 2026 brought together over 100 digital transformation leaders from ministries, central executive authorities, regional military administrations, and communities. The event was opened by First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal. Deputy Minister of Energy for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization Denys Shuhalii also participated in the forum.

As noted by Denys Shmyhal, digital transformation is one of the key pillars of Ukraine’s comprehensive reform agenda.
