Svitlana Grynchuk, Minister of Energy of Ukraine, held an online meeting with Dan Jørgensen, European Commissioner for Energy and Housing. The parties discussed preparations for the heating season, the integration of energy markets, the restoration and modernization of energy infrastructure, the development of renewable energy sources, and the production of renewable gases.

Smoke has been observed in the cargo port area of the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). The exact location of the fire and its possible consequences are currently being determined. It should be emphasised that the cargo port is located outside the protected perimeter of the plant itself.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway summarized the results of their cooperation over the past three years and identified further steps in the development of the gas sector, preparation for the heating season, and the implementation of green technologies.

An expert mission from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has concluded its work in Ukraine, which ran from July 29 to August 8, 2025. IAEA experts evaluated the condition of electrical substations crucial for the safe, reliable and uninterrupted operation of Ukrainian nuclear power plants. They also identified needs for additional technical assistance to enhance the energy system's resilience with regards to nuclear safety and security.
 
IAEA representatives reported significant progress in restoration work at facilities they had previously inspected.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, in coordination with the European Cyber Security Initiative (Estonia) and the International Cyber Academy (Ukraine), organized a series of practical training events for companies operating in Ukraine’s fuel and energy sector. These included online tabletop exercises (TTX) and a cybersecurity competition in the Capture the Flag (CTF) format under the theme “Cybersecurity and Energy Resilience.”

On the night of August 6, 2025, russia carried out a deliberate attack on a gas infrastructure facility — the compressor station of the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine in Odesa region, near the Ukrainian-Romanian border.

This compressor station was involved in the route connecting Greek LNG terminals with Ukrainian gas storage facilities via the Trans-Balkan pipeline, through which LNG from the United States and test volumes of Azerbaijani gas had already been supplied.
