Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Mykola Kolisnyk took part in the international conference “The Ukrainian Energy Security Dialogue 2025: New DNA of Energy Security.” The event served as a platform for discussing current challenges in the field of energy security and the strategic development of Ukraine’s energy sector.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution “On measures to ensure electricity supply during the autumn–winter period of 2025/26.”
The situation in Ukraine’s power system remains challenging due to ongoing Russian shelling. As a result of the attacks, as of the morning, consumers in the Mykolaiv and Kharkiv regions remain without electricity. Emergency repair and restoration works are underway. At the same time, in a number of regions, compared to previous days, the situation is gradually improving.
The Government has approved a package of measures to ensure stable electricity supply to the population during the heating season. This was announced by the acting Minister of energy of Ukraine Artem Nekrasov during a live broadcast of the United News national telethon.
According to him, the current top priority is ensuring electricity supply to household consumers, especially in frontline regions where the burden on the power system is most acute.
By order of NPC Ukrenergo, emergency power outage schedules have been lifted in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast. The situation allows a return to stabilization outage schedules.
At the same time, emergency power outages continue in most regions of the country by order of NPC Ukrenergo. The main reason for the tightened restrictions remains the consequences of previous massive missile and drone attacks by the enemy on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
In the early hours of 9 December, the enemy carried out an attack using strike UAVs on gas infrastructure facilities. Critically important equipment ensuring uninterrupted gas supply to the population came under attack.
Fortunately, there were no casualties among employees. However, the facilities sustained damage.
Emergency responders, operational services, and gas sector specialists are working on site to eliminate the consequences of the attack and prepare for the restoration of the damaged facilities’ operation.
Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Olga Yukhymchuk took part in the forum “Strengthening Ukraine's Resilience: Launch of the Sustainable Development Financing Platform,” organized with the support of the Potential for Climate Action (C4CA) project, implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) within the International Climate Initiative.
Olga Yukhymchuk emphasized that sustainable energy development is one of the key components for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and strengthening energy security under the conditions of martial law.
Cooperation between the public and private sectors is essential for ensuring the stability of Ukraine’s fuel industry in the context of ongoing hybrid threats. Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Mykola Kolisnyk underscored this point during his remarks at the international Petroleum & LPG Ukraine 2025 conference.
Mykola Kolisnyk emphasized the Ministry’s openness to constructive dialogue with businesses to enable rapid and coordinated responses to any crisis scenarios.
Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine took part in the first workshop held under the international Ukrainian-Swedish project BUILDS-UP – “Building Universal and Inclusive Local Design – Swedish-Ukrainian Partnership.” The initiative aims to promote the development of an inclusive and barrier-free environment within government bodies and local communities.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved amendments to the Procedure for conducting electronic auctions for the sale of electricity under bilateral contracts.
The adopted decision grants the transmission system operator (NPC Ukrenergo) the right to participate in special auction sessions for the sale of bundled lots in order to purchase electricity to cover technological electricity losses during the period of martial law. This will enable the operator to procure electricity through special auctions at more predictable and often lower prices.
