Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has been in blackout for the second consecutive day, which constitutes a significant violation of normal operational conditions at the facility. This was emphasized by Ukraine’s Minister of Energy, Svitlana Grynchuk, in a post on her Facebook page.

“The largest nuclear power plant in Europe is currently operating on diesel generators. This is already the 10th blackout at ZNPP,” she stressed.

The Lithuanian state-owned company AB Energijos skirstymo operatorius, the country’s distribution network operator, will deliver another batch of equipment to Ukraine to support its energy sector. These arrangements were coordinated by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania.

Today at 16:56, the only power transmission line through which the Zaporizhzhia NPP received electricity from the Ukrainian power system was disconnected.

The plant switched to backup power supply for its own needs from diesel generators. This is a serious violation of the conditions of the plant’s normal operation.

Throughout the entire period of occupation, the Zaporizhzhia NPP has repeatedly suffered power outages due to Russian shelling and damage to the energy infrastructure.

During a working visit to Finland, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Oleksandr Viazovchenko held a series of meetings with representatives of Finnish companies, including Verona Shelters Group and Fortum, focused on energy security, implementation of advanced technologies for the protection of energy infrastructure, and post-war recovery of Ukraine’s energy sector.

Ukraine’s Minister of Energy, Svitlana Grynchuk, participated in a meeting of the Temporary Special Commission of the Verkhovna Rada, which was convened to prepare issues regarding the strengthening of social protection for citizens affected by the Chornobyl disaster, as well as the use of territories contaminated by radioactive fallout from the disaster.

Ukraine continues to restore its energy infrastructure, which has suffered massive destruction as a result of more than three years of full-scale war. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Olha Yukhymchuk during the high-level event “Energy Resilience and Green Recovery in Ukraine” held within the framework of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The event was co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukrainee and theUnited Nations Development Programme (UNDP)).

Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine participated in an event presenting the results of the development of the Industrial Control Systems Laboratory (ISSP – Information Systems Security Partners Training Center – ICS Laboratory), a unique initiative in Ukraine aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of specialists in critical infrastructure cybersecurity. The laboratory has been implemented with the support of international partners.

Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak, on the sidelines of the “Roadmaps to New Nuclear Energy 2025” Conference in Paris, held a meeting with the informal group of representatives of OECD - OCDE member states “OECD Friends of Ukraine.”

He informed participants about the current situation in Ukraine’s energy sector and spoke about initiatives to restore the country’s energy system.

Magwood, on the sidelines of the "Roadmaps to New Nuclear 2025” Conference in Paris, discussed urgent nuclear safety risks in the region caused by russia’s ongoing shelling of Ukraine’s energy system. They also touched upon the current situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

Svitlana Grynchuk emphasized that international efforts are crucial to prevent a catastrophe. The first priority is the demilitarization of the plant.
