Ukraine’s Minister of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk took part in the G7 Energy Ministers’ Meeting in Toronto, where she discussed with international partners the priority areas of assistance for Ukraine’s energy sector.

Key topics included supplying additional equipment for rapid restoration after Russian attacks and securing financing for gas imports. The parties also considered options for mobile energy and heating systems to strengthen resilience ahead of winter.

On the sidelines of the G7 Energy Ministers’ Meeting in Toronto, Ukraine’s Minister of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk joined her counterparts for thematic sessions focused on nuclear energy development, diversification of critical minerals supply chains, and digitalization of the energy sector.

Svitlana Grynchuk emphasized that, despite the ongoing war, Ukraine has strong potential in the critical minerals market and is ready to be an active participant in global supply chains.

Ukraine’s Minister of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk met with Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), on the sidelines of the G7 Energy and Environment Ministers’ Meeting in Toronto, Canada.

Russian attacks have damaged substations essential for Ukraine’s nuclear safety. As a result, the South Ukraine and Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plants lost access to one of their external power lines, while the Rivne NPP temporarily reduced the output of two units at the request of the power system operator.

Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk held a meeting with Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi on the sidelines of the G7 Energy Ministers’ Summit in Toronto.

She emphasized that Ukraine highly values the Agency’s efforts. The presence of IAEA experts at facilities that play a key role in ensuring nuclear and radiation safety is extremely important now, as Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

A Russian airstrike claimed the lives of two of our colleagues — energy workers in the Donetsk region. Just a few hours ago, Russian terrorists launched a guided aerial bomb at the territory of the Sloviansk Thermal Power Plant.

Tragically, as a result of this insidious attack, our colleagues Serhii Diachenko and Mykhailo Hryhoriev lost their lives. Five other employees of the plant sustained injuries. The strike also damaged equipment in the plant’s engineering and laboratory building.

Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk took part in the opening of the G7 Energy Ministers’ Summit in Toronto, where she provided partners with a detailed overview of the challenges and needs of Ukraine’s energy system.

“Over the past months, Russia has waged a deliberate campaign to destroy Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Just last night, our energy system suffered a combined attack — more than 650 drones and over 50 missiles of various types,” she emphasized.

The event will gather government officials, international organizations, investors, businesses, and technology leaders to shape a common vision for Ukraine’s sustainable energy future.

The parties focused on the current situation in Ukraine’s energy system, as well as the need for additional equipment to restore facilities damaged by Russian attacks.

The Speaker reaffirmed that Lithuania will continue to support Ukraine in these areas.
